Last Friday I saw New Moon and it was awesome. I’m going to try to keep this organized, but it probably won’t, so sorry.
First of all, the beginning was like the book, with the preface and the dream, which made me think ‘Yes, it really is like the book!!’ I am very happy about how they kept true to the book. I felt like the acting was much better, and the cinematography (that’s what you call the camera angles and stuff, right?) was way better too. I didn’t really mind the blue colours in Twilight because blue happens to be my fav. colour and it didn’t feel out of place, but I’m really glad New Moon was different, because I don’t think it would’ve worked with Jacob.
I liked the music, though it wasn’t as prominent as in Twilight. I think in Twilight it really made the not-so-well stuff much better, and in New Moon that wasn’t needed, so it just added to it. Oh, and there was a good soundtrack (I mean not just the ' popular’ songs, but the classical stuff). I felt that missed in Twilight. Though at some points there was no music at all and I felt it was kinda awkward (but other times it fit).
The CGI/special effects were also a lot better than in the previous movie. The sparkling didn’t look like Edward was sweating anymore, which is a huge improvement. The vampire eyes were also much better.
There are a few things I didn’t like that much:
-when the camera showed the wolves, it was at a really weird angle from below, which I found annoying
-when Bella goes cliff diving you can see Victoria under water and Bella hits the rocks. I think the way it was in the book was much more realistic and dramatic (and also Victoria could’ve been there in a few seconds and killed her)
-at some point with the Volturi you see Edward’s face literally crack, which is really weird
- people (aka annoying fangirls) screamed when Jacob took his shirt off (and some other time as well, I think)
-in Volterra, Edward actually stands in the sun. Thisisn’t right, as the Volturi would’ve killed(/destroyed?) him in a split second, would he actually have showed his sparkling abilities to the humans in the square
I really liked the portrayal of the Volturi. They did not look like I imagined them, but their personality was . I especially liked Jamie Campbell Bower (yay for British accents, btw) and I’m looking forward to seeing him in DHs (Harry Potter 7). Oh, and about Britsh accents… I like it much more when Robert Pattinson talks with his natural accent. When he talks with an American accent, it sounds kinda fake to me (somewhere in Volterra his American accent kinda slipped, I think, and it felt way more realistic. And some more about Robert Pattinson: I don’t think he is hot, but I like him for Edward (even though he portrays him more tortured than I imagine Edward in the books).
When I watched the New Moon trailers, Bella’s screaming was really weird, but during the movie it kinda (how often did I say that already?
I did not like the end, where Edward proposes to Bella (why do endings in movies suck so often? The HBP ending wasn’t too great either... ). That doesn’t happen until Eclipse in the books, right? I’m happy I’d already read about the ending on the internet.
I saw some foreshadowing about which I remember thinking ‘oh, grea foreshadowing, I bet lots of people didn’t notice it’ but then I forgot what it was.. did anyone notice any foreshadowing?
And lastly: what did you think of the movie?
